This report was originally published on KTLN on 26th May 2014.

Sunday 25th May 2014 saw the Kalkan Restaurant Association host the very first Lycian Food Festival.  It was a huge success.

In this report we tell you what happened, in words and images.

The day started fashionably late up at the Kaya restaurant roundabout, where children from the Kalkan First School band assembled, alongside organiser Hüseyin Kayır, (from Guru's Place), and a few other members of the Kalkan Restaurant Association.

This small group walked down through town to the area behind Kalkan's public beach, where a crowd of people had already gathered under a blue sky, in the mid-day sun.  The governor of Kaş, Selami Kapankaya was there to say a few words of encouragement.

Great atmosphere
There was a great atmosphere, with hundreds of people meandering around the assorted food stalls, as DJ Özgür from Mojito Bar played a selection of lively music.  (Thanks to Soner from Kocaer Elektrik for the sound system).

There was a colourful line up of businesses, with traditional pancake makers plying their trade alongside juice bars, ice-cream sellers, and an assortment of fresh food stalls.

The Regency Hotel set up a roast lamb BBQ, and several restaurants had prepared tables of seriously delicious food, which was available to taste.

We were treated to a wonderful gymnastic display by children from Kalkan First School, whilst in Kalkan Bay a couple of guys from Aristos Watersports gave a jet-ski display.

Friendly competition
The main event of the day was a friendly competition between restaurant chefs, and other talented cooks.  A panel of judges had the difficult task of sampling plate after plate of Kalkan's finest food, and finding the winners.

Congratulations to the organisers - in particular Hüseyin Kayır, Chairman of the Kalkan Restaurant Association, whose energy and drive contributed to a fantastic day.

Thanks also to all of the businesses and individuals who came along and made the day such a success.

Kalkan's existing reputation as a centre of excellence for food can only be enhanced by the Lycian Food Festival.

We look forward to the next one.

Afiyet olsun.

Thank you to all who contributed photographs for this report.
