We are back with the new look KTLN

Hello! We're back! Hello! We're back!

It's nice to be back.  It's been a busy old week or two.

Apologies for our unplanned absence.  We have had to knock up a new web site.  To be honest we're not quite there but we think we have enough to go live, so here we are.

In this report we tell you about the changes we have made and what is left to do.

Please don't try logging in using your existing KTLN User ID and password as it won't work.  Please read this article for an explanation.

Logging in as a member
The web site address is  No change there.

But, and it's a big BUT please note that you can't log in with your existing KTLN member log in details.  If you wish to continue as a member you need to register with us again for this new redesigned site.

A few things to tell you about
We are back with local Kalkan news stories plus some of our archived reports.

We have got rid of the Knowledge Bank and replaced it with an Information section that we will populate over the coming weeks.

Within the Information section we have put articles into different categories which should be self explanatory.  For example we have articles that may be of particular interest to residents or to visitors, or perhaps property owners.

We have a separate section on the Environment and we are asking you to support the We Support Eco Kalkan (WSEK) initiative this year.

The web cam feeds need to be reconfigured but we will get the cameras back.  We ask for your patience here.  We know they are popular.

We have a Kalkan weather feed from Accuweather.  Our old bespoke KTLN weather feature took its data from the same place that Accuweather sources its data, so it was virtually identical.  We think it's accurate enough.

You will find exchange rates at the bottom of the page.  These are mid rates (in between the buying and selling rates) and will give you an indication of how the exchange rate is doing.

People using mobile devices should find the new look web site much more user friendly.

We took some time to think about membership.  Do we still need it?  Do we just move members across to our new site?  In the end we decided to keep membership as an option for those who want it.

Most of the content on this web site is available to the public.  You don’t need to register as a member to read news reports and other articles, but we have got a few special features that we are keeping for members only.  Click here to find out more

We have not automatically transferred membership across.  We had over 11,000 members on the original KTLN site and we would imagine that quite a few don't look at the web site any more, so we are starting again from scratch.

If you do decide to sign up that's great.  It won't take long and obviously membership is free.  But if you choose not to register that’s absolutely fine by us.  Whether you use the web site as a guest or as a member you are welcome.

TO REGISTER AS A MEMBER CLICK HERE  Or just click on the white icon of a person in the top right corner of the page.  You can keep your old User Name or choose a new one.

One of the things we have improved is our chat module.  We used to have the Feedback Box.  Now we have the KTLN Chatterbox - for members only.  Registered members will find it under the Contact Us tab at the top of the page.  It's much better than the old chat area.  The rules remain the same as ever.  Be nice to each other.  And no recommendations please.

Work in progress
The switch across to our new server took us a bit by surprise, and as we mentioned not everything is back to normal.  For example we have to sort out the web cam feeds and the business directory needs completing.  There are a few other gaps in some older articles we switched across.  But over the coming weeks we will get there.

Thanks for your patience while we were away.  If you have any questions or any comments or feedback please contact us.  Or if you register as a member drop in to the Chatterbox - maybe we will see you there.

Thank you to Devrim Çelebi and Aristos Watersports for allowing us to use their photographs on our home page.

Love KTLN. Love Kalkan.

Independent.  Comprehensive.  Reliable.
